Powertrain
The Toyota Prius Prime comes with a petite 1.8L 4 cylinder ECVT hybrid engine that allows for both gasoline and electrical power and puts out an impressive 121hp. This combination gives you an estimated 54 MPG average between city and highway driving and an estimated 133 MPGe.This equates to about 640 miles driving range and 25 miles range of EV mode. The total charge time is about 5 hours and 30 minutes with a standard outlet and a 2 hour and 10 minute charge on a 240v public charger.
Exterior
The exterior of the Prius Prime got a sporty makeover when compared to the regular Prius model which allowed for this hybrid car to appeal to those wanting a a fuel efficient car with sports car looks. Some of the most noticeable features are the redesigned bumper that got a black accent treatment and the lower fog lights got some additional styling as well. For the Prius Prime, you got a new choice of wheels that added to the performance look and really set it apart from the Prius. Some of the other great features included on the Prime include quad-LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, LED tail lights, patterned acrylic grille overlay with active grille shutter, heated power mirrors, rain sensing windshield wipers, dual wave rear glass design, carbon fiber reinforced polymer rear hatch, charge port illumination, and smart charging cable lock.
Interior
As for the interior, you will get a little setback as it sits 4 compared to the 5 passenger seating in the Prius. This is part due to the larger battery pack that allows for a longer driving distance. However, it makes up for the seating room with new creature comforts that are sure to make driving the Prime a pleasurable experience. The interior features will differ between the different trim levels with the Plus offering standard features and the Advanced being the most fully loaded Prime level.
